Iranian short animations to compete in Brazil

Three Iranian short animations have been selected to compete at the 26th edition of the Anima Mundi Film Festival in Brazil.

The animations, 'Nobody', 'Polychrome', and 'Roobi and Chickens' will go on screen at Short For Children section in the Brazilian event.

Directed by Elham Toroqi, ‘Nobody’ tells the story of a white cat living in city of black residents. The cat tries hard to get food but no one seems bothered to give any.

The 9-minute flick has so far succeeded to attend a number of international animation festivals, including the 22nd ANIMAC International Film Festival in Spain, the 11th ANIMANIMA International Animation Festival in Serbia, and the first Bute Street Film Festival in the UK.

Co-directed by Babak and Behnoud Nekooei, ‘Roobi and Chickens’ is about an alien that comes into a forest with his spaceship in search of food and ends up in the house of a fox named Roobi. Roobi realizes that the alien can help him solve his problem involving a rooster who lives nearby.

'Polychrome' is a short animation directed by Negar Halimi.

The Anima Mundi was created in 1993 with the aim of promoting and disseminating animation in Brazil. The event is one of the largest in the world in terms of audience.

The 2018 edition of the festival is slated for July 21-29 in Rio de Janeiro and for August 1-5 in São Paulo.
